Kilmer says he's not running for governor

It’s starting to look more and more likely that Lt. Gov. Diane Denish won’t have a challenger next year when she runs in the Democratic primary for governor of New Mexico.

That’s because actor Val Kilmer told New York Magazine he isn’t running.

“No, I’m not,” he was quoted as saying. That came after he gave a goofy answer when first asked about whether he would run.

“Well, I’m running. I don’t know if it’s in circles or not,” he said with a laugh.

Kilmer was actively considering jumping into the Democratic primary several months ago, but then his level of activity dropped off and he put his Pecos ranch up for sale.

He was caught on video this weekend saying he was “probably not” going to run.

This is the best news to hit this blog in a long time. We don't need Kilmer or another Bill Richardson as a dictator of this state.

We need someone who will think in terms of what is best for the people of this state.
