Kilmer meeting with political operatives in DC

Val Kilmer has apparently been meeting with political operatives in Washington this week, and there’s a lot of speculation that he’s looking for staffers to work on his potential 2010 gubernatorial campaign in New Mexico.
I wrote earlier this week that Kilmer was in Washington to visit with some members of the New Mexico congressional delegation and attend a speech on American Indian issues. In addition, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed, someone representing Kilmer set up meetings between the actor and some operatives in the D.C.-area that were held this week.
Then there’s this from Washington blogger Joshua Baca, who keeps an eye on issues related to New Mexico:
“My sources tell me that Val Kilmer was dining this morning at the Royal Restaurant -- a local breakfast diner in Alexandria, Virginia,” Baca wrote in a Thursday posting on his site. “This time, however, he wasn’t dressed as Batman, rather dressed in a suit and tie, chatting with two other gentlemen in suits and ties.”
“Could he be in the market for a Democratic consultant or operative?” Baca asks. “Perhaps. The Royal Diner is commonly known as the place to get coffee with political operatives in Old Town. And, there are some local shops in the area. Murphy Putnam Media comes to mind as does McMahon Squire and Associates. Both are major Democratic consulting groups in the beltway.”
My sources think Baca’s speculation is right on.

Wow, you would think that Mr. Kilmer might want to meet with the little people in New Mexico before he talks to the god in DC about imposing himself on us.
Maybe Naderite Val Kilmer who donated $4,000 to the Ralph Nader campaign for President, should use Nader D.C. politcal operatives Toby Heaps and Oliver Hall. Mr. Kilmer is not a Democrat!
Again folks, "dog and pony show". Val is gonna need some serious "strategery" to get elected in NM. I can only see him being semi-competitive in Abq and maybe, maybe southern NM. Otherwise, he doesn't have a chance.
