According to the Sunday Journal article about the poll, Obama’s lead was even larger among Hispanic, independent and young voters. He led by 15 points among independents and voters ages 18-34 and by 45 points among Hispanics.
Brian Sanderoff of Research and Polling was quoted by the Journal as saying Obama has been “on a roll in the last 10 days to two weeks,” but “This thing is not over.” McCain must get half the independent vote to win, Sanderoff said, and he had the support of 29 percent in the poll, with 22 percent undecided.
“The jury is still out on whether his maverick message will prevail,” Sanderoff said of McCain. “The good news for McCain is, 16 percent of Democrats are undecided. They evidently have some reservations about Obama.”

John McCain staffs his campaign with a Who’s Who of America’s top corporate lobbyists. Their clients include big oil, telecom giants, the defense industry, and foreign dictators. Even McCain told the Associated Press that “When a campaign employs an individual who also lobbies that member, the perception of undue and unfair influence is raised.”
John McCain flip-flopped on lobbyist reform. In 2005, McCain introduced a law that required “disclosure of activities of paid lobbyists.” But conservative groups, led by James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, assembled a coalition to defeat that language. As part of his aggressive efforts to curry favor with this group, McCain reversed his stand and decided to gut his own bill.

From the Keating 5 scandal in the 1980s to the Paxson debacle in the 1990s, Senator McCain has been caught in a repeated cycle of using his power to do favors for cronies.
As Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, Senator McCain consistently gave favors to large telecom companies who financially supported him.
Senator McCain has advocated for billions of dollars of wasteful earmarks in government legislation.
This is not a very good sign for Dems. Right now they should be blowing the doors off this campaign with the current political climate. The truth is people do not trust Obama. He is out of touch with New Mexico values.
There is no way a man who owns 8 houses and 13 cars can be in touch with New Mexico's values.
