Retiring U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici is appearing in a new TV ad urging New Mexicans to replace him with the Republican candidate, Steve Pearce.

Here’s the 30-second ad from the Pearce campaign:

“For a long time you’ve allowed me to serve you. Together we’ve accomplished a lot for New Mexico,” Domenici says in the ad. “Now I must pass this work to someone who can continue our progress. Steve Pearce is that someone.”

“He knows how to make our lives prosper and how to create jobs that will keep our economy robust, do the right thing for New Mexico’s future,” Domenici says. “Join me and vote for Steve Pearce.”

Domenici released a statement of support for Pearce on June 4, the day after Pearce defeated Domenici’s preferred candidate, Heather Wilson, in the June primary. Pearce is facing a huge deficit in the polls against the Democratic candidate, Tom Udall.
