Today’s ceremony comes on the heels of the Tinsley campaign erroneously sending fund-raising letters to the Democratic Party’s state headquarters addressed to a number of high-profile Democrats late last week. This week, about 100 fund-raising letters from the Tinsley campaign have also arrived at a post office box owned by Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tom Udall, and one fund-raising letter has arrived at the home of Teague.
“Ed Tinsley definitely got the attention of certain residents of Santa Fe with his fundraising letter campaign to New Mexico Democrats in the north,” Josh Geise, executive director of the state Democratic Party, said in a news release announcing the mock Santa Fe award. “Even though we won’t be contributing to his campaign, we did want to show him we care.”
Tinsley, according to the release, “will be recognized for his outstanding service to

“Ben regrets that he won’t be able to attend the mayor’s press conference to honor one of his constituents, Ed Tinsley,” Mark Nicastre, Luján’s communications director, said in the release. “Ben hopes to get Ed’s support in November and looks forward to representing him in Congress. Jim Pettit, Tinsley's communications director, called today’s ceremony “a silly political stunt that’s wasting taxpayer resources” -- the salaries of the elected officials who are participating.
“We’d rather engage with Teague on issues that matter, but he refuses to do that,” Pettit said.

They should have the event at Mr. Tinsley' home at 71 Calle Ventoso W Santa Fe. It is worth according to Zillow $2,379,500. This small residence has a lot size of 96,659 sq ft / 2.22 acres. That is a big place to have no one living there
The problem I have with this is that now everyone is willing to talk about this. No one wanting to report on the fact that Tinsley lived out of the district during the primary.
I wish someone had really substantively reported on him living outside the district so that maybe a Republican candidate that actually lives in the district could have ran for this office.
I dont believe Tinsley lives in Capitan. He lives in Santa Fe and prior to that he lived in Albuquerque.
Shame on Coss, Espinoza and all the other elected officials wasting their time on an election that does not affect them.
It's one thing to stump for candidates; that's what elected officials do- but to do it for someone that is running for office outside of their district isn't right.
Espinoza should be more concerned about fair elections; something that has been questionable in Northern New Mexico for years.
Plus this is all the Dems have on Tinsley. He is a good, successful person. It's not illegal to own two homes. Funny how Teague can spend millions of his own dollars on a campaign and that's fine. But why not? Don Wiviott did it in a primary election!
Voter-
He lives in Capitan. Obviously he would not be able to run if he did live in Santa Fe or Albuquerque as you say then there would be a problem.
Why don't you question where Bill Richardson lived prior to his election as Congressman to the third congressional district? Not to mention where he lived before he was elected governor? This has been questionable for years- but nobody every has "reported" on that.
I am sure Mr. Ed Tinsley is clueless regarding the important issues in Southern New Mexico. I will give him credit that he knows the important issues of the National Restaurant Association!
Mr. Ramirez
You obviously just take what Tinsley says at face value.
He lived in Albuquerque when he ran for the seat in 2002 and now he lives in Santa Fe. There is no crime in owning two homes, but I think there is an ethical problem in representing a district you dont live in and I will tell you that from what I know Tinsley doesnt live in the 2nd Congressional District, he lives in the 3rd Congressional District.
